It all started back in the year 2007. We identified a number of liquor opportunities in the South African market to launch exciting and innovative products. We were committed to go for it! Drinking in our GO! ethos that was to become a big part of who we became as a South African beverage manufacturer.

Right from the start, our founding husband, wife, son and close friend team did everything with tenacity. From establishing a strong stockist network to packaging products to doing club and restaurant promotions, all the way to doing the deliveries in their sturdy old Mazda 323.

Most days the family team would work until 2am or 3am in the morning and be back working again by 7am. They were intent on making a success of Independent Liquor and have remained hands-on in the business, with equal vigour for customer-centric delivery.

Independent Liquor remains that family owned and run company – serving South Africans nationwide – true to our start-up foundations of a focus on authentic service and unwavering quality.

Now as a company growing annually, we manufacture a quality range of beverages that we serve to between 2 500 to 3 000 customers. Our staff complement is around 20 full time employees, with six of these wonderful team members having served the company for over a decade each.

Our focus is on bringing innovative products and packaging to the market.

In 2014 we expanded our operations, as our existing factory was just too small and we built our own manufacturing plant. This has allowed us to bring tasty new products to the market, while maintaining our high standard of service levels.

As we continue to grow we stay true to our ethos of dependability, versatility and originality. Family has always been who we are and these family values won’t change no matter how big we grow.

  • August 2007
    Began manufacturing our own Radical Sours range of products.
  • November 2007
    Produced our first batch of Double Act shooters
    Launched Double Act and expanded it from three flavours to 11 tantalising taste combinations.
  • May 2012
    Launched Tiqqle and SHOUT ranges of Tequila infused Cream and non-cream liqueurs
  • August 2015
    Bokshot launches into the South African market
  • March 2016
    Created CHOCOLAT in two signature flavours, CHOCOLAT Choc Chilli (with a real kick) and CHOCOLAT Choc Mint
  • May 2016
    Wrote the story of two off the wall characters that Shout in this brand’s unique packaging
  • May 2021
    Designed eye catching new look Double Act packaging
